You can go fishing on foot along the banks of the Autise or walk to the market town of Nieul, 2km away. Nieul-sur-l'autise, a small town full of character: wander through its charming little streets with their beautiful stone buildings, mill and, of course, its royal abbey. If you're feeling more sporty, you can take the Vendée cycle route, which passes in front of the gîte. The forest of Mervent-Vouvant, 15 km away, offers a host of activities: a family outing to the zoo, leisure centre, hiking, climbing, etc. At the gateway to the wetlands of the Marais Poitevin, take a boat trip along the canals of the Venise Verte. Maillezais pier 10km away.
