GEOCACHING, LOCATION DE GPS

Geocaching is an outdoor activity for families and friends that involves using GPS coordinates to search for or hide a treasure (or cache). This modern-day treasure hunt combines the pleasures of hiking, games and discovery.

A little extra for the whole family: guided by a fun and educational booklet available free of charge from the Pays des Achards Tourist Office, discover the shores of Lac du Jaunay with its 63 caches and the historical past of Les Achards (15 caches). You can also explore the lush green surroundings of the village of Girouard (9 caches), the nest box trail at Beaulieu sous la Roche (23 caches) and the Loups trail at Sainte Flaive des Loups (33 caches).

*Did you know?
Letterboxes are caches in which you can leave a postcard, and therefore a little note for future geocachers! There's also a punch inside to mark your geocaching notebook as a souvenir of your visit! Collect them and come and pick up your surprise at the Tourist Office.

If you don't have a hiking GPS or an application on your smartphone (note: internet connection unavailable around Lac du Jaunay), you can hire a GPS for €5 a day. (Application on your smartphone with c:geo on Android, or geocaching on AppStore).

GPS hire is ONLY available from the Tourist Office at 56, rue Georges Clémenceau in Les Achards.
