Presentation of: Rocher d'escalade de Pierre Blanche
By prefectoral decree, climbing on the Pierre Blanche site is currently prohibited.
Access by the general public is strictly forbidden on, above and below the cliff known as the "Rocher de Pierre Blanche", located on cadastral parcel 80903, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area and owned by the Département de la Vendée.
This ban applies to all members of the public (walkers, visitors and climbers), with the exception of the services of the Département de la Vendée, companies appointed by the Département and the fire and rescue services.
This order takes effect from 22 January 2023 until further notice.

INDICATIVE INFORMATION IN THE EVENT OF REOPENING :
Equipped natural climbing wall, 34 m high, in a magnificent location in the heart of the Mervent forest and on the edge of the lake. Climbers are autonomous and under their own responsibility.
Number of routes: 112 (from level 4b to 7b+)
Gneiss micachiste quartzite rock with a westerly exposure.
Meteorology:
In winter, it's best to climb in the afternoon when the rock is dry. In summer, it's best to climb in the morning or evening when the rock is in the shade.
Equipment in place:
Brouet-Badré pins (cosiroc) - Hilti C100 and Sikadur 31 glues.
All the routes have 2 pins at the belays. The initiation sector, bottom right, is equipped with pins connected by a chain to the relays.
Special features:
An ascending pitch covers most of the cliff. The lower routes are equipped with belays at the level of the ledge. The upper routes end at the top of the cliff. Moving around on the ledge requires vigilance, particularly in the upper section.

Recommended equipment:
70m rope and 12 to 14 quickdraws for the long routes.
Access to the bottom of the cliff is reserved for climbers only. Walkers and "spectators" must stay behind the belvedere railings at the top of the cliff.
(During the year, the wall may be inaccessible due to maintenance work).
