Presentation of: GR3(R) DE LA POMMERAYE A CHAMPTOCEAUX
The GR®3 is the first signposted long-distance hiking trail in France! Today, the trail follows the Loire Valley in its entirety, from Mont Gerbier de Jonc in the Ardèche to La Baule over a distance of 1,243 km. Traditionally, the route starts in Guérande, but recently the GR has been extended to La Baule through the salt marshes.
In the Mauges, stages 8 and 9 take walkers through steep-sided hillsides, small streams lined with mills, and typical villages from La Pommeraye onwards. The banks of the Loire at Saint-Florent-le-Vieil are sure to delight walkers! Join Champtoceaux, passing close to the birthplace of the famous poet Joachim Du Bellay.
