Presentation of: EXPOSITION "Gagnants du Salon des Artistes Amateurs 2024"
Florian Pineau, sculptor (Jury Prize 2024) for his work "Balafré par nature" ("Scarred by nature").
"Four years ago, I started sculpting with a chainsaw and grinder, a passion born of a simple desire to shape a piece of wood. I'm fascinated by the feel, smell and look of wood. Self-taught and amateur, I appreciate simplicity and let myself be guided by my changing inspirations. Each piece is an exploration of this living material, an expression of my creativity and my love for wood.
of my creativity and my love for wood.
Gérard Leclerc, self-taught amateur painter (Public Prize 2024) for his work "Or de L'automne".
"Born in 1945, I'm a typical example of a self-taught artist who started drawing and painting when he was very young, but whose working life kept him away from it. It was in 2007, when I moved to Brétignolles sur Mer, that I was able to pick up my brushes again. My oil painting on linen canvas or MDF panels is above all figurative and I tackle all subjects. For the first time, I'm presenting a collection of my work, which will mark my 80th birthday.
Laurent Goussaire (Prix des artistes confirmés 2024) for his work "La Pensée juste".
"I've always loved wood, and for as long as I can remember I've been carving sticks to make snakes. Made from wood collected from gardens, I sometimes combine my work with crystal or worked natural stone. My imagination guides my tools: I use the traditional Swiss gouge and other more modern tools. I don't exclude any theme and I work according to my inspiration of the moment. Today I'm offering a journey into my cosmic imagination, a confrontation between the view of photos from the Hubble and James Webb telescopes, and my mind and my hand.
