Les filomènes, Textile Artists:
Born in January 2017, les filomènes is the fruit of the association of two women, Sylvaine Cussonneau and Chrystelle Bertrand.
Coming from a performing arts background, Chrystelle became a textile designer in 2007, drawing and creating feminine silhouettes in motley colours and exotic accents. Ten years later, she discovered the psychology of art therapy and sophrology, which enables her to provide support through textile art as well as drawing, writing, painting, physical dynamics and theatre. Today, Chrystelle divides her professional life between her work as a therapist and the artistic project Les filomènes.
In Sylvaine's life, the hands and their benefits are at the heart of her professional life. Various body care practices complement shiatsu, for which she is passionate about. Working with fibres, feeling their different textures, letting her inventiveness run wild and "creating" is not so far removed from untying the body's knots, feeling where the hands should go to "heal". Today Sylvaine divides her professional life between this body care work and the artistic project Les filomènes.
These therapeutic and artistic approaches are nurtured interactively within this duo of women. Working intuitively on large formats, the filomènes weave, weave, weave fabric scraps from the sewing room and then embroider or apply textured elements to tell a unique story. The filomenas weave links based on their feelings. They call this work the art of free weaving.
In the Retrospective exhibition at La Galerie du Sénéchal in December, they are showing a sample of their artistic career, in small and large formats.
