From Saturday 29 March to Saturday 12 April, the librarians of the Pays des Herbiers are organising the traditional "Livres en Fête" book festival. This year, the focus is on Asia, with events organised in all 8 communes.

This year, the focus is on Asia! From 29 March to 12 April, librarians will be organising Japanese poetry-writing workshops, origami workshops and reading mats.

- Saturday 29 March from 3pm to 5pm - Haiku writing workshop: Try your hand at writing a haiku, a Japanese poem in three lines celebrating the evanescence of things. Les Herbiers library, for all ages 11 and up.
- Wednesday 2 April, 3pm to 4pm - Origami workshop: The Franco-Japanese association Nagomi, based in Saint-Mars-la-Réorthe, offers an origami workshop for children and their parents. Les Epesses library, from age 5.
- Saturday 5 April from 10am to 11am - Reading mat and Asian tales: Sitting on a traditional reading mat, children are invited to listen to Asian tales read by library volunteers. Mesnard-la-Barotière library, from age 4. In partnership with the BDV.
- Saturday 5 April, 5pm to 6pm - Rendez-vous des ados: Have you read a great book, seen a film or a series that you loved, and want to share it with others? Join Amandine and Margot at the library for a creative workshop. Les Herbiers library, for 11-15 year-olds.
- Tuesday 8 April, 2.30pm to 4.30pm - Board games: La Tanière du jeu offers a family game time focusing on Asia, with games such as King of Tokyo , Nekojima , Okiya and Kamisado. Salle polyvalente, Saint-Paul-en-Pareds, open to all.
- Wednesday 9 April from 2.30pm to 4.30pm - Screening of an animated film: In partnership with the Bibliothèque Départementale de Vendée, watch a Japanese animated film for young audiences. A funny and colourful Japanese ecological tale that celebrates friendship and the need to believe in one's dreams. Théâtre Saint-Joseph, Saint-Mars-la-Réorthe, from age 6. In partnership with the BDV.
- Thursday 10 April - Chinese ink illustration workshop: Kotimi is well known to the general public thanks to her Momoko series, published by Rue du Monde, in which she evokes her Japanese childhood in Tokyo in the 1970s with a tender and precise eye. Kotimi is offering Indian ink workshops for children and their parents to draw spontaneously and freely around her Momoko series. 2 sessions: from 10am to 11.30am at the Beaurepaire Library and from 3pm to 4.30pm at the Vendrennes Library, for children aged 5 and over.
- Friday 11 April, 2.30pm to 4.30pm - Puppet discovery workshop: Nyima, a company based in Nice, runs a parent-child workshop to discover the art of puppetry. Various exercises will be offered: body awareness, coordination work, voice work... Salle de la Comète in Mouchamps, from 5 years upwards.
- HIGH TIME: Saturday 12 April from 9.30am to 1pm at Espace Herbauges, Les Herbiers. On the programme:
* Baby reading session: Accompanied by a family member, your little one will discover books and nursery rhymes. From 9.30am to 10am. For children aged 6 months to 3 years.
* Introduction to Qi Gong: An introductory session to this traditional Chinese gymnastic offered by the Herbret association Lotus bleu. From 10am to 11am. For adults
* Show "Neige": Object theatre and puppet show by the Nice-based company Nyima. An original adaptation of the book "Neige" by Maxence Fermine. Through the initiatory story of young Yuko, Neige is a hymn to youth and discovery. Set in Japan at the end of the 19th century, the story revolves around 3 characters: Soseki, a great master of poetry, Yuko, his disciple, and Neige, a young European tightrope walker. From 11.30am to 12.15pm.
* Lunch break Food truck Chez Ly Va Deu: This caterer specialising in Mong cuisine will be offering Asian dishes to take away (payment by cheque or cash only). From 11am to 1pm. Parvis d'Herbauges, Les Herbiers.
