PORRIDGE RADIO
Porridge Radio are a British alternative music band who have rapidly gained notoriety since the release of their Mercury Music Prize-nominated album Every Bad in 2020. Formed in Brighton in 2014, the band, made up of Dana Margolin, Sam Yardley, Georgie Stott and Maddie Ryall, have taken years to gain the recognition they deserve after self-releasing and touring.
Their new album, Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder To The Sky, represents an evolution in their sound. On it, Dana Margolin tackles the disappointments of love and the existential questions of his twenties, with a more confident and catchy songwriting style. Inspired by the likes of Mitski and Sharon Van Etten, the album blends sweetness and intensity with elements of rock and emo.
With a more epic approach, Porridge Radio distils its influences to offer a dreamy yet intimate experience. Listeners continue to be moved by their lyrics, which evoke personal struggles and moments of catharsis, signalling a promising future for the band.
