RENC'ART
Presentation of: RENC'ART
Exhibition
With Céleste Richard-Zimmermann & Stéphane Vigny
This year, the town is inviting visual artists Céleste Richard-Zimmermann and Stéphane Vigny to take over the Espace Jan-et-Joël-Martel as part of its special visual arts programme.
Céleste Richard-Zimmermann's practice is based on research into historical anecdotes and news stories. Borrowing her subjects from popular culture and images, the artist reappropriates myths and beliefs, transforming them into tragicomic fables. Expressing herself through a variety of media (sculpture, painting or installation), she reveals a humanity prey to relationships of power and contradiction, questioning the foundations of social life.
Stéphane Vigny conceives his works in relation to situations. He often uses everyday objects and construction materials (wood, PVC, panelling, concrete), which he diverts from their uses and functions by playing with them.
their uses and functions by playing with words, shapes and meanings. As a rereading of the everyday, his works play on existing elements, mixing popular culture with artistic references.
