THEE SINSEERS
In 2019, the Trans Musicales revealed this elegant group straight from East Los Angeles! Led by frontman Joey Quinones, nine-piece collective Thee Sinseers have made a name for themselves with music that borrows from vintage R&B and soul, while adding their own singular, contemporary style to a timeless musical genre. After a handful of singles, including 'Seems Like' in 2020 for Penrose, Daptone's Californian label, The Sinseers released their debut album, Sinseerly Yours, on 22 March 2024 for Colemine Records (Kendra Morris, Monophonics...). The band recorded their new album live at Second Hand Sounds in Rialto, California. The venue, a dentist's office converted into a studio, allowed the band to experiment and refine their style like never before. Sinseerly Yours, a stunning first manifesto infused with sixties pop, Jamaican dancehall and Chicano soul, sounds exactly like the record Thee Sinseers dreamed of making! A real gem.

THE SUGARMAN 3 MEETS SCONE CASH PLAYERS
In the suburbs of Leeds, with a rare intelligence and a keen sense of the electric and deviant arts, a very young trio has been cutting its teeth on the hard bricks of British punk for almost 10 years. Now a quartet, Drahla have played dozens of gigs, opening for METZ, Parquet Courts, Ought and the likes of Buzzcoks. Buoyed by the success of Third Article, a brilliant debut EP that's minimal enough to give you a taste of the hypnosis of bass lines riddled with razor-sharp riffs, Drahla are reminiscent of the jubilant, dissonant moments of the great Cure and Sonic Youth. The message is committed, minimal and heady, the melody rides the chaos, the punk is modern and flayed, nourished on every track by a three-star heritage. THE ALTONS
How do you describe the sound of south-east Los Angeles? The Altons, from the region, offer a unique sound. Their soulful, retro and indie style has been winning over American audiences for several years now, making them a must-see band. Gabe Roth, co-founder of Daptone Records, was immediately seduced by their universe when he launched Penrose Records. This label, a subsidiary of Daptone, promotes the up-and-coming soul scene in Southern California - the perfect setting for the Altons! Buoyed by the success of their singles "When You Go (That's When You'll Know)" and "Over and Over", the foursome are now one of the most promising bands on the new American soul scene!
