The Buttshakers, a soul/funk band from Lyon still led by the incredible American singer Ciara Thompson, are not only one of the best bands capable of taking up the torch from Sharon Jones and rivalling the Daptones, they are also musicians in search of meaning! "In The City", their new single, features footage of Bill Streeter filmed in St Louis on the fringes of the riots following police violence.

Produced by Kelly Finnigan of the Monophonics, the American quartet's music expresses all the subtleties of their deep soul. Imagine the musical arrangements that run through Barry White's early albums or those of Curtis Mayfield, add a little Sam Cook or Marvin Gaye, and you'll have an idea of what nourishes The Sextones.
