TRIO MIROIRS
Presentation of: TRIO MIROIRS
Discovery concert
With Éléonore Aubel (violin), Jérémie Le Lann (piano) and Jacques Tarnovsky (cello)
The Miroirs trio takes you on a voyage of discovery through the works of Gabriel Fauré and Mel Bonis, whose real name was Mélanie-Hélène Bonis. Both living at the crossroads of the 19th and 20th centuries, these composers witnessed the pictorial revolutions of the Impressionists, the construction of the Eiffel Tower and the First World War. While Gabriel Fauré, who held the prestigious post of Director of the Paris Conservatoire, was a highly acclaimed composer in his own lifetime, even influencing the next generation of composers such as Debussy and Ravel, Mel Bonis, on the other hand, had a more complicated career, due to the social conventions of the time. Despite her talent, and her efforts to make her music known, she did not achieve the same recognition. Long forgotten, her work is now being rediscovered and appreciated by an increasingly wide audience.
