BOUIN, VILLE FLEURIE !

As part of the European Heritage Days

Address : Chapelle des Sept Douleurs Rue du Grain d'Or
85230 BOUIN
FRANCE

Presentation of: BOUIN, VILLE FLEURIE !

Echoing the Floralies held in the Vendée this year, and to complement the town's efforts to plant the town centre and win a Villes et Villages fleuris (Towns and Villages in Bloom) award, what could be more natural than to talk about "flowers"? All summer long, the town of Bouin will be staging a unique exhibition at the Chapelle des Sept Douleurs: Bouin, ville fleurie!

An exhibition dedicated to flowers in all their forms, whether natural, paper or fabric... And yes! Bouin is full of talent! Did you know that an artificial flower company has thrived here for many years, to the point of winning all the medals at the Universal Flower Competitions in Paris?

Artistic creations dating back to the end of the 19th century, the work of Pelote's workers, will be on display: bridal wreaths, ornamental flowers or communion buttonholes, you'll be told all about this fascinating and little-known story. In conjunction with this presentation, part of the exhibition will be devoted to the characteristic flora of the Bouin marshes, using photographs and herbariums from the 19th century.
