Presentation of: Parc du Chateau de Nesmy

The 47-hectare park at Château de Nesmy was designed in 1842 by André Leroy, a landscape gardener from Angers, on the remains of an 11th-century estate. This landscaped park stands out for its original and coherent character, typical of 19th-century parks. It includes a hydraulic complex of five ponds, created by the Bühler brothers, as well as a belt of rare trees.

The park features several remarkable elements:

The English-style park: Although it may appear natural at first glance, this park has been meticulously designed, with views converging on the château. These perspectives, which are currently being restored, create an illusion of depth, with the spaces narrowing as you move away from the centre.

The hydraulic network: This ingenious system links the five ponds via canals and overflows. The ponds, which have a decorative, defensive and utilitarian function, also produced Nesmy's first electricity thanks to a turbine installed on the last pond.

The botanical park: This garden is home to a rich collection of rare species, including bald cypresses, sequoia, tulip trees, cedars of Lebanon and Himalayan weeping pines. These carefully placed trees enrich the park's views and contribute to its sense of escape. Italian-style buildings such as the outbuildings, the chapel and the Belle-Croix farm add to the harmony of the setting.

The grounds of Château de Nesmy are a veritable fusion of history, nature and innovation. It is also accessible on request for group visits and associations. What's more, it is fully accessible to people with disabilities, enabling everyone to enjoy its beauty.
