Presentation of: FORET D'AIZENAY
The Aizenay forest, located in the eastern part of the commune, covers an area of 420 ha, making it the seventh largest forest in the Vendée. The southern part of the forest is bisected by the departmental road 948, which links Aizenay to La Roche-sur-Yon.
Today, the Aizenay forest is classified as a natural area of floristic and faunistic interest. Depending on the location, it is owned by the Conseil Départemental de la Vendée, the commune of Aizenay or private individuals.
The main tree species are pedunculate oak, sessile oak and chestnut. There are also a few hornbeams, beeches and aspens. There has also been some reforestation with conifers and American oaks.
