Presentation of: Ecluse de la Varenne

A lock built in the second half of the 17th century on the old Varenne canal. This structure, which was essential to the smooth running of the marsh, was abandoned when the Luçon canal and the Varenne canal were straightened and extended in the 19th century.
It is now owned by the Société des Grands Marais de Triaize. It was completely rebuilt in 2010, after the Xynthia storm.
One of the last floodgates in the area.
