Between Péault and la Couture, Lavaud is a place crossed by the Lay. It used to be crossed by boat, but in 1840 a ferry project failed. This metal bridge was built by Gustave Eiffel in 1877. It is one of 16 bridges still in service built by Mr Eiffel.
