Presentation of: Statue de Bourgenay
It refers to the shipwreck on 16 December 1631 of Charlotte Flandrine de Nassau, daughter of William Nassau and founder of the Benedictine convent in Les Sables.
Following her rescue, she had a chapel built for Notre-Dame on the shore of Bourgenay, where she landed, and placed the statue of the Virgin Mary that had adorned the prow of her boat.
