VILLA GROSSE TERRE

This architect-designed house took several years to build and was completed in 1928. It is of particular architectural interest because behind its sobriety lie many original architectural motifs. Specialists in the history of the seaside resort can attribute its Italianate inspiration to its tall, elegant square tower, gallery, loggia, brick and tile decoration, semi-circular openings and portico. At the time, building materials arrived at the station and had to be transported by horse-drawn cart.
Since 2009, Villa Grosse Terre has been owned by the municipality of Saint Hilaire de Riez. The grounds are freely accessible, so you can wander around the pleasant grounds of Villa Grosse Terre and enjoy the lovely sea views.
