Presentation of: Abbaye de l'ile Chauvet
In 1130, the Benedictines had the abbey built thanks to the lords of La Garnache. All that remains of this monastery on the edge of the marshes is the church, now a listed historic monument. The entrance porch is adorned with 4 voussoirs resting on small columns with elaborate capitals. In the former Benedictine dormitory, there are exhibitions recounting the history of the marsh, as well as a collection of polychrome wooden statues.
Other interesting architectural remains include the kitchen with its bread oven and the cellar. A festival is held here every August.
