Eglise Saint-Romain et la Crypte

Romanesque architecture

Address : 5 place de la Mairie
85540 CURZON
FRANCE

Presentation of: Eglise Saint-Romain et la Crypte

The nave was completely rebuilt in 1873.
The crypt : At first glance, it appears to be in the usual form: a roughly square volume with an apse pierced by a single window. The whole is covered by nine groin vaults supported by a series of columns. The sculpted decoration is of great interest. It seems that for a long time, the existence of this crypt was unknown. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1875.
