Our Lady of Pritz Chapel still have some remains of masonry from the Carolingian time.
Around 1306, the church of Saint-Martin in La Pommeraie sur Sèvre belonged to the diocese of Maillezais, deanery of Bressuire.
In the 17th century, the pilgrimage gave rise to large gatherings on 15 August and 8 September each year.
Dedicated to Saint-Hilaire, the bishop of Poitiers who evangelised the region in the 4th century, the original church was built in
The construction of this church started back in 1928. It was subsequently
demolished in February 1972.
