EGLISE NOTRE-DAME
SAULGES
The communal wash-house was built in 1731 on the initiative of Abbé Pierre BOUSSEAU, the parish priest.
This lighthouse, built half a mile inland, was in service from 1897 to 1961 as part of an alignment of lights guiding ships up the
119 mooring berths in the heart of town for 10- to 15.50-m boats.
Born in Mouilleron en Pareds in 1841, Georges Clemenceau spent his childhood in the Vendée.
