The first church is thought to have been built on this site around 1200.
The original church, which probably dates back to the 11th century, was sacked by the fury of heretics in the last quarter of the
Former main priory of St Vincent's Abbey in Le Mans, this private holding later became a Benedictin domain.
The chapel of Sainte Macrine once stood on the site of the present-day church.
